How do I rent equipment from a surf school?

Do I need to buy equipment ?
If you signed up for the Beginner/Advanced membership , no! The equipment ( wetsuit, gloves, boots, cap and board) as well as the insurance are embedded in the package lessons. However, if you want to go surfing on your own, we totally recommend you to buy the full equipment. You can take advantage of the deals explained in the Memberships tab, depending on the location.
How to I rent one of the boards from the ESTEC Surf Club?
The ESTEC Surf Club is still in the process of purchasing boards. Once they have arrived there will be booking system that you can use. So watch this space.
Can I change my membership?
It is always possible to upgrade your membership throughout the year and become a Beginner or Advanced member by simply paying the difference in the membership fee, simply send us an email at estecsurfclub@gmail.com and we upgrade you.
Unfortunately it is not possible to get reimbursed if you decided to change from a Beginner or Advanced membership to a Friend membership.
Am I insured through the ESTEC Surf Club?
You are insured when you are doing the surf lessons through the local surf school, the free surfing as well as the surf trips and the social activities are done on your own risk and not insured with the ESTEC Surf Club.
I have not used all my lessons throughout the year what will happen to them?
If you do not use all of your lessons they will expire, so make sure you use them all within the year!
How can I book a surf lesson?
Once you have signed up for either a Beginner or Advanced membership you can request a voucher for the surf lessons. Send us an email with the name of the surf school you want to do the lessons with and we will send you the voucher.
With the voucher you can book your surf lessons at a time convenient for you directly on the surf school website.
Can I book more lessons than what is included in the membership
If you are a beginner and a have completed the 3 courses in Noordwijk with Heart Beach you can sign up for additional lessons. The cost is 25 euros per lessons and can be organized directly with Heart Beach.

How do I know which membership is best suited for me?
The ESTEC surf club has 3 different memberships: Beginner, Advanced and Friend. If you want to do lessons, you better sign up for either the Beginner or the Advanced membership depending on your level. If you do not want or need lessons, you sign up for the Friend membership which is available at a reduced rate and offers access to the WhatsApp group, surf forecast and social events.
How do I know if I am a Beginner or an Advanced?
Do you catch 90% of the waves you are paddling for? Do you surf green waves? Do you own your own board? Do you catch diagonals? Do you surf on regular basis throughout the year? Do you know how to read the waves? Do you know what a duck dives is?
If you can answer most of these questions with a yes, you are probably an intermediate to advanced surfer and more suited to the Advanced membership.

How can I join the WhatsApp group?
Once you have paid your membership fee we will add you to the WhatsApp group.
How do I get the surf forecast?
The surf forecast for the entire Netherlands and Belgium will be posted in the ESTEC Surf Club WhatsApp group.
Can you become a member of the ESTEC Surf Club if you are not working for ESA?
Yes you can! But since the club is subsidised by the ESTEC SSCC you need to have a link to ESA by either being a family member, partner or friend of either an ESTEC staff or contractor.
Why should I join the ESTEC Surf Club as a Friend?
Although you will not have any surf lesson, you will be added to the ESTEC Surf Club WhatsApp group for contact with the other members, the surf forecast and social events.
